I currently teach Hatha, Vinyasa, Aerial Yoga, and Yoga Nidra at Aayana Yoga Academy. My journey into yoga began long before I stepped into the role of a teacher. While pursuing my Master’s in English Literature at Delhi University, I started practising meditation inspired by the writings of Osho. For me, yoga is more a tool to understanding and expanding the mind than just a physical discipline.
While working in a demanding role at a U.S. immigration law firm in New Delhi, I completed a 500-hour Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh. Although I returned to corporate life after the training and few months of self-practice, I felt like something within me had shifted. I wanted to pursue something more fulfilling and impactful. Two years later, I transitioned fully into teaching. In this second encounter with yoga, I relocated from my hometown in West Bengal to Bangalore to pursue an additional 200-hour TTC at Aayana Yoga Academy. This experience introduced me to a science-based and post-modern understanding of yoga, offering a dynamic yet complementary perspective to the traditional teachings I had explored in Rishikesh. The blend of traditional and contemporary approaches now shapes my teaching style.
I enjoy connecting with people and nurturing conscious communities for the greater good. This has led me to host retreats and community practices that bring people together through the transformative power of yoga. My yoga classes are grounded in connection and inclusivity, with thoughtful attention to the diversity, need and individuality of each student. I also lead stillness and mindfulness practices like Yoga Nidra. With my love for writing and storytelling, I often create guided visualisations for yoga nidra. It brings me joy to see people around me feel safe, seen, and heard.
